Kay E. Jewell, MD

Dr. Jewell has served as a Consultant for 18 years. Her most recent projects have focused on molecular pathology issues related to coverage and payment, Medicare issues with coverage and claims processing and providing public comments on draft coverage policies as a Consultant to the Association of Molecular Pathologists, private businesses, and as a member of ACMG. Other projects include clinical, marketing and public health issues with Pharma launches in which her focus is on the link between identifying the product’s value considering quality of care, performance measurements, and cost.
Dr. Jewell has worked in quality and safety issues at the state and national levels for 32 years with nursing homes, home health, hospice, hospitals, and physicians. She was the first Medical Director for Medicare Part B in Wisconsin and then served as Medical Officer at CMS (Medicare) in operations and policy.
She served as Vice Chair of the Wisconsin Medical Society Quality Council, was a member of the AMA –PCPI and a public respondent on NQF performance measurement endorsement. Dr. Jewell received her degree from the University of Wisconsin Medical School, completed internal medicine residency and fellowship training in psychiatry and geriatrics and extensive graduate coursework at UW-Madison in Administrative Medicine and UW-SP in health and wellness.
